St Kilda police have texted a lady after she failed to stop during a car chase on St Kilda Road last Tuesday.
The car chase was called off after it was deemed too dangerous to continue, as the woman allegedly drove through a red light. However, it is believed police then tracked the woman down using her vehicle’s registration to send her a text message.
The contents of the message was not released to the public, however, the spokesperson for Victoria Police stated that it is not a new way of catching people, and it has been done before. It is believed the message urged the woman to hand herself in.
The driver has been granted bail by police and will appear before the Melbourne Magistrates Court on July 10.
