Taxis to be Allowed to Record Passengers

The Queensland State Transport Minister plans on introducing legislation next year that will allow taxis owners to install audio recording devices in their taxis.

The Queensland Government claims the legislation will increase safety, by deterring assaults and providing evidence when they do happen.

But Human Rights campaigners say the move is unjustified and an invasion of privacy. Claiming that it will mainly be used to collect fares, and not to protect drivers from physical assault.
