Cyber Crime Cost Down

Cyber crime in Australia is now costing us $1 billion a year,but that figure has dropped dramatically from last years $1.65 billion.

On average the cost of cyber crime to individual victims is $201, last year the average cost was $306.

Holding computers hostage, blackmailing users, and stealing account details are common threats to users and their bank accounts. However privacy is also of increasing concern.

  • One in ten people have accessed a partner or friends social media account without permission,
  • One in three smartphone users have been victims of cybercrime in the last 12 months
  • One in five adults have had a phone stolen or lost
